Mission Statement
This web site is designed to stimulate dialogue between coaches, officials, skaters, parents, and anyone who cares about skating enough to want to improve competitive artistic roller skating. The ultimate goal is to:
- reduce the National Championships to 9 days,
- integrate skaters from the youth, elite, and adult divisions into one cohesive National Competition, and
- challenge skaters more than the current system does.
The decrease in length of the National Championships would give all skaters the chance to be inspired by elite events, and also to create a fuller audience, as skaters and their families would be more inclined to stay for the whole length of the meet. In order to accomplish this goal, the C events would be eliminated from the National level of competition.
The new proposals would allow skaters to skate fewer events with greater proficiency, leaving the B and C divisions for newer skaters, thus increasing involvement in the sport by being less discouraging to incoming skaters. This will strengthen the A events in the hope of having more Jr/WC and World Class skaters. More Jr/WC and World Class skaters will breed stronger competition in the United States, thus making the United States more competitive on the World level. |
